Standing on a lonely beach by ~llizArd:iconllizArd:

Standing on a lonely beach,
Looking over the sea
towards the horizon.
Footprints behind me,
Filled by the waves,
Begin to sink away.
How did I get here?

I close my eyes and walk,
Walking on water,
Calming the waves,
Easing the currents,
into the setting sun.

I open my eyes;
Just standing on a lonely beach,
My feet a little deeper in the sand.

Author's Comments

This was my first poem after a gap in which i had no time to write. I had had the idea for a while but no words then they came to me all of a sudden, i hope you enjoy. Here are the previous comments:

Nice one... the imagery is intensely vivid, and i can almost hear the waves thrash the distance rocks while the sun hangs above the horizon, bleaching half of the sky in a pale pastel blue/orange...
Great poem...

Bahaha NO I DO NOT and you are WAY too humble. One thing about poets on dA that is a bit cruddy, is that they don't get the credit/recognition they deserve. People will rarely click on a text preview knowing that it's a written piece (which is why i used to submit all my writings with home-made preview pics, but ever since about a week or so ago, they made ALL written submissions display a text-only thumbnail so there's no more luring peeps with accompanying art )
Okay i lost track of where i was going. OH YEAH. Keep writing, sir. With stuff of this calibre, you're bound to be famous sooner or later

Lol thanks a lot, but yeah it's true, its a bit demoralising when you see someone who's been a member for a shorter length of time than you and they have 3000+ page views. You dont really need pictures to lure people into your writings, they're a picture in themselves.

If only everyone saw it that same way ... it'd make things a lot less discouraging.

So vivid in my mind is that scene.
Well well written.
The loneliness to the breaking into freedom in mind to returning.
"My feet a little deeper in the sand."
dude what a way to end

Thank you so so much, I'm glad you knew it was breaking into freedom in the mind (not that i would doubt you to understand). I love that ending, I was so pleased with this poem once i'd finished it, as i said, i had the idea of this poem for so long but i had no words, i just knew that's how i wanted it to end. Again, thanks.
